Make sure the Extrude tool’s New Solid option is chosen so that we can extrude the outline (see Figure 3-32). Now we need to make this model an appropriate size for a cookie cutter. First, we’ll measure it to see how big it is, and then we’ll scale it down to about 3mm wide. 4. Measure the star by clicking the Measure tool and choosing the Face/Edge/Vertex option (see Figure 3-33).

Although you can select tools from either the top-screen menu or open context menu, it’s best to choose from the context menu because it shows options available for the immediate problem. Also, the top menu icons won’t work if, for example, you’re working on a sketch and the menu icon is only for solids. 4. Array the sunray. Select Circular Pattern from the context menu (see Figure 3-22). A glyph with two buttons appears: Sketch Entities and Center Point. Because the sketch is already highlighted, click Center Point (make sure the Full option from the drop-down arrow is selected).

To select (highlight) a face, click it and then run the mouse over one of the face’s edges. A selected face turns dark blue. Click directly on an edge to select it; it will turn black. To select multiple items, drag your mouse (press the left button and hold) from the upper-left to the lower-right corner. This creates a selection window; everything completely inside this window will be highlighted. Drag the mouse from the lower-right to the upper-left corner to create a crossing window; everything the window touches will be highlighted.
